ROHI June Newsletter – A Month of Milestones, Ministry & Hope

This month has been overflowing with moments of impact, connection, and celebration. From welcoming mission teams to delivering beds and water barrels, from visiting every home in our community to celebrating a college graduation—we’ve seen God’s faithfulness on full display.

Thank you for making this all possible through your generosity and prayers.

 Jorge’s Graduation – A Dream Fulfilled

We are thrilled to announce that Jorge Flores has officially earned his Bachelor’s degree in Marketing!

Jorge’s journey hasn’t been easy. During the pandemic, he suffered a serious motorcycle accident that left him immobile for months and required multiple surgeries and physical therapy. Through this he faced seasons where his academic progress stalled and recently he also grieved the loss of his beloved grandmother—his mother figure.

But Jorge never gave up. And today, we celebrate this brave and determined young man and all he has overcome.

Congratulations, Jorge! We are so proud of you. And thank you, dear donors—you help make dreams a reality.

❤️ A Heartfelt Thank You to GBM Honduras and the CHIMINIKE Museum

We are grateful to GBM Honduras and the CHIMINIKE Museum for their invaluable partnership, which made it possible for 10 of our students to complete a basic computer training course. Thanks to this opportunity, each student is now equipped with essential digital skills.

Collaborations like these are key to providing more opportunities for ROHI students. With continued partnerships, we can keep offering training and workshops that turn hope into lasting transformation.

Mission Teams – A Blessing to Our Community

We had the honor of welcoming three incredible teams in June:

  • The youth team from Grace Calvary Chapel was with us for a few days, bringing joy, energy, and meaningful connection, forming lasting relationships with our students.
  • Sovereign Grace Presbyterian Church spent a day with us, serving with love and intention. They provided 13 water barrels, treats, and support for families in need.
  • Project E15 also spent a day with us, generously donating large bags of clothing for our bazaar and bringing joy to the children with sweets and smiles.

All three teams visited the dump, where they blessed the workers with food, sincere prayers, and compassion. Each group left behind more than memories—they brought healing, dignity, and hope. We are deeply grateful for their partnership.

 Bazaar for ROHI Families

This month we hosted a bazaar with used clothing and shoes for ROHI families. Thanks to generous donations, parents were able to choose what they needed most with dignity and joy.

 Visiting Every Home

In June, we visited every home of our ROHI students. These visits allowed us to listen, pray, and better understand the daily realities our families face. It was powerful, humbling, and eye-opening.

Thanks to your designated donations, we now have enough funding for every ROHI family in need of a water barrel or a bed to receive one.  What a beautiful and immediate impact you’ve made in these homes—thank you!
But as we visited each home this month, we saw just how much more is still needed.

Some families are living with leaking roofs or no safe place to cook. Others sleep on the floor or struggle with crumbling walls. These aren’t just inconveniences—they are real barriers to health, dignity, and stability.

Here’s the needs as of 07/07/2025:

  • 🏚️ 10 families need a safe home
  • 🏘️ 6 families need a new roof
  • 🚽 17 families are waiting for septic
  • 🍲 15 families need a stove
  • 🧱 And many others need floors, hillside stairs, repaired walls, doors, retaining walls or electricity.

Project costs range from $50 to $10,000 —so any size donation helps. Whether you give toward one need or feel called to meet a larger goal, your generosity moves a family closer to safety and hope.

Together, let’s continue transforming houses into homes—one gift, one family, one miracle at a time.

Why is there an option to cover the processing fee when I donate online?
Our credit card processor (Stripe) deducts a fee of 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction before the donation reaches our 501(c)(3) partner, Trash Mountain Project. For ACH bank transfers, the fee is much lower—only 0.7%. When you check the box to cover processing fees, your gift amount is slightly increased to offset those costs—making sure 100% of your intended donation goes to ROHI.
Trash Mountain Project then passes along every dollar it receives for ROHI directly to the project in Honduras. Covering the fee is completely optional, but it’s a simple way to help your support go even further—especially for a small ministry like ROHI.

Thank you for making a difference

Prefer to give by check? Wonderful! Please make your check payable to “Trash Mountain Project” and write “ATTN: ROHI Project” in the memo line.
