A Month Full of Blessings
February was a month filled with many blessings at the ROHI Project. We are excited to share a glimpse of what our students and families experienced during this special time.
The School Year Begins
We officially began the new school year with in-person classes, and the classrooms quickly filled with the energy and excitement of students ready to learn. Seeing the children return to school with smiles and hope for the future is always a wonderful moment for our staff and teachers.
Each school day also begins with something very important. Our students receive nutritious meals every day, including both breakfast and lunch. These meals help give the children the strength and focus they need to learn and grow.
A Special Visit from Topeka
One of the highlights of February was the beautiful visit from our brothers and sisters from Topeka, Kansas. During their time in Honduras, they helped construct two homes for families from the Trash Mountain community who are part of ROHI.
Their team also visited the city dump to spend time with people working there and shared food with many families. It was a powerful reminder of compassion, generosity, and the love that connects our communities.
Celebrating Love and Friendship
In February we also celebrated Día del Amor y la Amistad (Valentine’s Day). The students enjoyed a joyful time together celebrating friendship, kindness, and the relationships that make our ROHI family so special.
Generous Donations for Our Students
We were also blessed to receive donations of school supplies and backpacks from Banco Azteca and Lotelsa. These gifts help ensure that our students have the tools they need to begin the school year well prepared.
The Greatest Gift
Another beautiful celebration took place through Operation Christmas Child and Samaritan’s Purse, as our students participated in the Greatest Gift program. This time of learning and reflection reminds the children that they are deeply loved and valued.
A Step Toward the Future
Our older students have also begun their technical training programs, an important step that helps prepare them for future careers and opportunities beyond school.
Exciting News: The ROHI Project Building Campaign
We are also excited to share an important step forward for the future of the ROHI Project.
We have officially launched the ROHI Project Building Campaign to build a permanent campus for our students. For many years ROHI has operated in borrowed spaces. A permanent campus will provide stability, safe classrooms, and a place where generations of children can learn and grow.
To help get the campaign started, $205,170 has already been donated toward this vision. In addition, we now have a $150,000 matching opportunity, meaning every gift given toward the campaign can be doubled.
This generous opportunity will help us move more quickly toward our goals of purchasing land and building a campus for the children and families we serve.
