May was a month filled with celebration, gratitude, and hope for the future. As we look back on all that happened, we are reminded once again that God is faithfully working through the prayers, generosity, and encouragement of so many people who love the children of ROHI.
A Major Milestone for ROHI
This month we celebrated a tremendous answer to prayer.
Thanks to the generosity of our amazing donors, ROHI has now raised the funds needed for Phase One of our permanent campus project.
Phase One includes the land purchase, site preparation, access road, perimeter fencing, basic utilities, the Nursery Building, and the Multipurpose Building.
For many years, ROHI has operated on rented property. This milestone brings us one step closer to providing a permanent, safe campus where generations of children can learn, grow, and thrive.
We are deeply grateful to everyone who has prayed, given, shared our story, and helped make this milestone possible!
Celebrating Mothers
One of the most meaningful events of the month was our Mother’s Day celebration.
We were honored to recognize the incredible Rohi mothers and grandmothers who work tirelessly to care for their families. Many of these women face significant challenges each day, yet they continue to demonstrate strength, sacrifice, perseverance, and love.
It was a joy to celebrate them, encourage them, and thank them for the important role they play in the lives of our students.
Dreaming About the Future
As part of Honduras’ Day of the Worker celebration, our students dressed as the careers they hope to pursue one day.
The campus was filled with future teachers, doctors, nurses, police officers, firefighters, business owners, and many other professions. It was a wonderful reminder that every child has dreams and God-given potential.
Seeing the children proudly dressed as their future selves was both inspiring and encouraging. Education opens doors, and we love watching our students dream about what their futures may hold.
New Playground Equipment Brings Joy
May also brought exciting additions to our current campus.
Thanks to generous supporters, the children now have a slide and three swings to enjoy. Their excitement was immediate as they eagerly lined up to try the new equipment.
Opportunities to play are an important part of childhood. Play helps build friendships, confidence, creativity, and joy. The new playground equipment has quickly become one of the favorite places on campus.
A Special Visit from Group E15
We were blessed to welcome Group E15 to ROHI this month.
Their team worked hard to give our campus a fresh new look by painting the school a beautiful dark burgundy color. They also transformed our covered picnic tables with bright, cheerful colors that have brought new life and energy to our outdoor spaces.
In addition to these projects, the team served tamales to our students and shared food with families working at the city dump. Their kindness, generosity, and willingness to serve were a tremendous blessing to our community.
We are deeply grateful for their partnership and for the encouragement they brought during their visit.
Planting Seeds for the Future
One of the most special moments of May took place during Honduras’ Arbor Day celebration.
Students visited the future ROHI property and planted trees and other plants that will one day provide beauty and shade across the campus.
This visit carried special meaning because the children now know that Phase One of the campus project has been fully funded. As they planted, they were able to stand on the property that will someday become their future school.
Together, the students prayed over the land, thanking God for His provision and asking His blessing on the donors and the future campus. It was a powerful moment of gratitude, faith, and anticipation.
Each tree planted represents more than landscaping. It represents hope for future generations of children who will learn, grow, and thrive on this property for years to come.
