A New Year, A New Beginning!

January was a month filled with gratitude as we prepared to jump into a brand-new school year at the ROHI Project. Our teachers returned with renewed energy, ready to pour into the lives of our students. Classrooms were organized, lesson plans were finalized, and everything was set in motion to welcome our students back on February 4th.

Serving Our Community

We were incredibly blessed to host a medical brigade, bringing much-needed healthcare to our students and families. This incredible team from Sovereign Grace Presbyterian Church provided critical medical attention, ensuring that our students and their families are healthy and ready to start the school year strong. These moments of care and compassion remind us of the importance of community and the power of service.

We also had the privilege of joining in a beautiful worship service led by the Church of Loarque. It was a powerful time of praise, unity, and spiritual renewal, reinforcing the foundation of faith that guides our mission.  Following the service, the church generously provided a small provisions bag to each family in attendance.

Growing Together
January also marked student registration for 180 students, a time of both excitement and gratitude. We were overjoyed to welcome a few new families into the ROHI Project. Seeing more children given the opportunity to learn, grow, and dream beyond the circumstances they were born into is a testament to God’s continued provision through each of you, our generous supporters.

Impact Story:  Breaking Free from Generations in the Dump
One of the families whose lives have been forever changed by the ROHI Project is the Flores family. Deisy Sarai, a single mother, has four children currently enrolled at ROHI. Their journey has been filled with struggles, having spent generations working in the dump, but they have found hope and opportunity within our school. Deisy’s children—Dulce, Isis, Dario, and Maicol—are determined to break free from the cycle of poverty. Each of them has big dreams to serve and protect others, whether as doctors, in the Navy, or as a police officer.

“I am very grateful to the donors, to God, and to the teacher Garilym and her team of teachers for everything they do daily for each one of our children,” Deisy shared in a thank you video (see on facebook.com/rohiproject.org).

Thanks to your support, these children are stepping into a future filled with possibilities, safety, and education—a future where they no longer have to dream of food in their tummies but instead dream of who they want to become.

With Grateful Hearts
As we embark on this new school year, we cannot thank God and each of you enough for making all of this possible. Your generosity and prayers continue to transform lives in this community, and we are excited to see what this year holds. Thank you for being a part of this journey with us!

About ROHI and Our Partnership with Trash Mountain Project
The ROHI Project is a school built at the base of the Tegucigalpa city dump in Honduras. This school is dedicated to serving and educating the children and families who live and work in the dump. We focus on the following areas: Spiritual * Physical * Emotional * Educational * Social

The name ROHI is inspired by one of the Hebrew names for God, Jehovah Rohi, meaning “the Lord is my shepherd,” as seen in Psalm 23.

ROHI Project operates under the parent organization, Trash Mountain Project (TMP), which provides 501(c)(3) non-profit status for our fundraising efforts. TMP’s federal tax identification number is 26-4775012, and donations to ROHI are tax-deductible as allowed by law. We are very grateful for their partnership in making this work possible.

With love and gratitude,
The ROHI Project Team
