January 2026- New School Year

January at ROHI is always a month of preparation, reconnection, and renewed hope. As we step into a new school year, our campus fills with anticipation as students, families, and staff work together to build a strong foundation for the months ahead. Thanks to your support, January was full of meaningful moments that prepared our children not just academically, but spiritually and emotionally as well.

A Visit Full of Joy and Encouragement

We were blessed to welcome a visiting group led by Allen from All Gods Children, who spent time serving and encouraging our students. The children experienced joy, connection, and reminders of how deeply they are cared for. These visits strengthen relationships and bring fresh energy to our campus. Thank you!

Spiritual Camp: Growing in Faith

In January, our youth took part in a spiritual camp hosted with Eklesia de Loarque. It was a joyful and meaningful week filled with games, friendship, shared meals, and time in God’s Word. Students were encouraged to grow in their faith and build new relationships in a safe and supportive environment.

We are grateful to the pastors, leaders, mission team, volunteers who prepared meals, and ROHI teachers who made this camp possible. Moments like these remind us how God continues to show His love to the ROHI community in tangible ways as we step into 2026 with hope and trust in Him.

Teachers Preparing for a New Year

Behind the scenes, our teachers were hard at work preparing classrooms, organizing materials, and guiding families through the enrollment process. Registration is an important time of reconnecting with families and ensuring students are ready to return with confidence and support.

Home Visits and Family Support

Our staff continued home visits throughout January, checking in with families and delivering provision bags where needed. These visits allow us to understand each family’s circumstances and provide encouragement and practical support. They are a reminder that ROHI’s care extends beyond the classroom.

A Strong Start to Classes

With preparations complete, classes officially began, filling the campus once again with laughter, learning, and routine. The start of school represents opportunity, stability, and the promise of growth for every child.

Community Support That Makes a Difference

We are grateful for partners who step in to support our students in tangible ways. This month, COACEHL provided a generous donation of backpacks and school supplies to help students begin the year prepared and confident. Acts of generosity like this remove barriers and remind families they are not walking alone.

We are also thankful for the annual medical brigade hosted by the Presbyterian Church. Each year, this team ensures our students are healthy and ready to begin school, providing essential care that many families would otherwise struggle to access.

As we look back on January, we are reminded that every visit, every provision bag, every classroom preparation, and every act of generosity is part of a larger story. Because of you, children are entering the school year supported, encouraged, and equipped to learn.

Thank you for walking alongside the ROHI community and helping make these moments possible.

ROHI Project aims to provide comprehensive care to the children, youth, and their families who live and work in the Tegucigalpa, Honduras, municipal dump. The project name ROHI is inspired from one of the Hebrew names for God, Jehovah Rohi meaning “the Lord is my shepherd” as seen in Psalm 23.
