August Update – Celebrating ROHI’s Anniversary

From the ROHI Staff:

We thank God for his love and faithfulness in the month of August. It was a month where we saw the grace of God at all times.

Today we want to say a THOUSAND THANKS to each person who helps ROHI comprehensively serve the population of the Tegucigalpa municipal garbage. Thank you for helping us to have completed another year of working with and ministering to these students and their families.

Additionally, we thank God that the students are very motivated to continue studying formally for their future and that there has been very little desertion this school year.

August activities:

  • 2nd Anniversary celebration with family worship service, lunch and cake, and food provisions for all the families to take home
  • Students completed their 3rd quarter exams
  • The secondary students visited two museums
  • 9th and 11th graders prepared for their tests they must pass in September to proceed on to high school (9th) and to graduate (11th)
  • Glove donation for the mothers that work in the dump to help protect them as they dig through the trash
  • One visiting group spent time with the ROHI students as well as took food up to those working on the dump

Prayer Requests from ROHI Staff for:

  • all the children and youth to have a personal encounter with God
  • blessing and provision for all the ROHI families
  • those in the ROHI families to choose to seek Christ and find salvation and eternal life
  • Erika (ROHI head cook) to have relief from her surgery and complete healing soon
  • Health for Mercy and Suyapa (ROHI teachers) and that God would give them peace
  • God to guide in all the ROHI plans and give the ROHI staff wisdom in their planning
  • God to bless the donors and their families, giving them health and well-being
  • God to multiply blessings and good health on those in authority over ROHI
  • Spiritual strength for all the staff—may God renew their strength and allow them to continue their work with love and dedication

PSALMS 23:1

ROHI Project aims to provide comprehensive care to the children, youth, and their families who live and work in the Tegucigalpa, Honduras, municipal dump. The project name ROHI is inspired from one of the Hebrew names for God, Jehovah Rohi meaning “the Lord is my shepherd” as seen in Psalm 23.
